This hat is made from Dale Falk (Heilo would work as well) on size 4 circulars and double pointed needles. Cast on 90 stitches in Kolibri ( I like a cotton lining its less itchy) join and knit circularly for 2 inches, increase to 102 stitches. Change to red, knit a row, purl a row, knit a row,

change to blue, knit a row,

then knit a row of red then knit 2 red, 2 white, 2 red around,

then a row of white ,2 red, 2 white,around so the 2 white are ontop of the 2 red from the row before

then knit a row of red then knit 2 red, 2 white, 2 red around, again so the red is on top of white, white on top of red.

Knit a row of red, one of blue, one of red - do the star pattern

to work the stars i worked,

for a total of 102 stitches around.. the star is white the motif background and extra stitches are blue

when the star is done, do 4 rows of red -
4 rows of white
4 rows of red
4 rows of white
4 rows of red - decrease 2 stitches in next red rows

start decreasing in 3rd red row by putting a marker every 25 stitches

and decrease after each marker in 4th red row
4 rows of white - while decreasing after each marker each row
then 4 rows red, decrease before and after each marker each row
keep going in this fashion until there are 4 or 5 stitches between markers, switch to double pointed needles when it gets too hard to do on a circular
finish by running a thread thru these 16-20 stitches and tie off

sew up the hem and make some festive twisted cords for the top
